Self catering for 2 with pool near to beach

HI, we are considering a holiday to the South of France (our first time) early September. We%26#39;re not really familiar with the are but guessed we%26#39;d end up staying in Nice. we%26#39;re really looking for somewhere self catering so we can come and go as we please but with a sunny pool and near to the beach front. I%26#39;m struggling to find anything for the 2 of us, can anyone help? We want to be able to spend time just by the pool but also visiting local sights. Ideally not too expensive.

If you want near to the beach why do you want a pool?

I would say early Sept. you should focus on the sights of the Cote d%26#39;Azur and not worry too much about the rest.

There are very few apartments/villas for 2 with pools but I think www.nicepebbles.com has at least one place with a pool so you might contact them direct.

If you are unsure about where you want to go, and %26quot;guessed you%26#39;d end up in Nice%26quot;, it is worth searching these forums and doing some background reading to familiarise yourself a bit more with the area and help to decide where you really want to be based.

Self catering accommodation in Nice with a pool is scarce and the beach in Nice is not sand.

You are more likely to find apartments with pools and sandy beaches close by if you go west of Nice and look at areas like Antibes, Juan les Pins and Cannes. All of are within easy reach of Nice and local sights and depending on your priorities could be a better choice than Nice itself.

There are many websites to choose from, but suggest trying :

www.holidaylettings.co.uk

www.holiday-rentals.co.uk

www.primaryrentals.com

www.holidaylets.net

Just input your desired dates, facilities, proximity to the beach etc.

I%26#39;ve just checked riviera-rentals site for you and they have a studio on the seafront with pool in Nice available in September (It%26#39;s called Studio Royal Luxembourg). They are a good company to rent from.

We stayed at Royal Luxembourg last year in a dreadful and dirty apartment with no air conditioning; however yours may well be good. Every flat is owned privately and many (mostly older) people actually live in the block.

It%26#39;s a very large apartment block, very central and just across the road from the prom and beach. The pool is a very small rooftop one with NO shallow end whatsoever; you go in to about 2 metres of water. There is also a larger %26quot;paddling pool%26quot; which is good to lie in on a hot day. The view from the roof is fantastic.

Self catering for two in this area will NOT be cheap; you may find a mid-range hotel with pool to be cheaper.

As suggested you must do some research on the area. Nice is a large city with a very long prom and very stony (not pebbles) beach. We love Nice but the real fun of Nice is eating out in the Old Town. There are other lovely and very different seaside towns such as Antibes and Villefranche; and many more.

%26quot;Come and go as you please%26quot;

Almost all the hotels in Nice have 24 hour entry so that shouldn%26#39;t be a problem.

This was the link for the apartment at the Royal Luxumbourg - excellent location and great roof top pool and view.

Enjoy your holidays.

Hope I%26#39;m not too late! We stayed in an apartment in the Royal Luxembourg apartments owned by Riviera Rentals-wouldn%26#39;t touch it with a barge pole. It was tiny and the balcony was a joke-cracked glass on the panels and a washing machine. No view to speak of. To be fair the flat itself was spotless and had clearly been recently done up but it was rented to us as suitable for three which it was not.The other problem was the condition of the halls outside the flat-the carpet was covered in nameless stains and it was dull and dank. Add to this paper peeling off the walls, bulbs not workingand no apparent fire escape instructions. It was really spooky and none of us would have ventured down those corridors alone. Think %26#39;The Shining.%26#39; So much for me going jogging off along the promenade des Anglais to get the morning croissants.

If we could have walked out immediately we would-but the office was shut. We stayed one night in the claustrophobic conditions (BTW my bed was a mattress on the floor) and then went to Riviera Rentals office and asked if they had anything else. They didn%26#39;t-it was peak season. We went to the tourist office and they had two options for us. The Durante Hotel was the one we chose and we were lucky enough to manage to get a refund on our Royal Luxembourg apartmet-minus the one night we stayed. So I have to say that the company did play fair. However it should never have been sold as suitable for three.

Would love to know where you ended up and how you got on!
