Hi - 4 of us are going to Paris mid-October, and since prices are sooo high, we%26#39;re looking for good, cheap eats in Paris.
Our taste is for French, rather than other, food, and we can%26#39;t wait to try lots of your suggestions.
Food and atmosphere - ahhhh...
All the best from Bill

Prices are sooooooooo high only in restaurant operated by famous French chefs. Walk a block or two away from any famous street or tourist site, turn the next corner and you should find yourself in a neighbourhood with all the things that implies. Read the bills of fare outside (they must be posted outside) of the various cafes, brasseries, restaurants, bistrots, etc., and when you come across one that suits your taste and your budget, go in and dine.
BTW, cheap eats is a phrase that was invented for, and applies to, the great American diner, in the days when neon signs were very expensive. It said it all in as few letters as possible. It also lets you know that the menu is very specific - 24 hour breakfast, bottomless cup of coffee, hamburgers and fries, and all the other usual items, and that they will be served on the heavy, thick, white china, that can only be found in a diner, these days.
