Hotel For Paris Christmas Markets

Hi,

We will be visiting Paris in december and was wondering where would be the best place to stay as we want to visit the Chistmas markets.

Thanks in advance

The Christmas markets of Paris are not going to monopolize much of your time, because there is no tradition for them in Paris and they are just a recent commercial addition.

In recent years, the biggest one has been at La Défense, but there are also some of the inevitable prefab wooden chalets in several parts of town. The wooded lower part of the Champs Elysées also has a Christmas market, and there are generally markets at Saint Sulpice, Les Halles and Montparnasse, too. Probably the exactly details and locations are being decided right about now.

The only spectacular Christmas market in France is the one in Strasbourg.

I%26#39;m afraid I have to agree with Kerouac. I visited two Christmas markets in Paris last year. Both were a disappointment.

Add my voice to the choir.

There were boatloads of Chinese-made rubbish on offer -- it was funny/sad, as most of it was the same Chinese-made rubbish we could buy at Walmart in the US.

The only saving factor is mulled wine -- which is available all over the city that time of year.

The Christmas markets might qualify as a diversion, but I wouldn%26#39;t make special plans for them.
