Travelling to Paris for first time over Christmas and New Year. I am looking at 2 apartments, 1 on 14, Rue Bachaumont in 2nd Ar, very close to Rue Montortgueil; the other 13 Rue De l%26#39;universite in 7th Ar, between Seine and Eiffel Tower. Which would be a better location for a week in Paris? Which would be less touristy?

I like 2nd WAY better than 7th. I like 1 the best, then 4,5, and 6.
|||
I love the 7th for its quietness and family feel.

Stayed in both areas, like both areas. 2nd definitely less touristy.
Just come back from staying Rue Greneta off rue Montorguiel. The more I stay around there the more I like it. You can step out of your apartment which is in a quiet side street in to the buzzing atmosphere of rue Montorguiel. It%26#39;s very central and easy to walk/metro anywhere.
The 7th is much more elegant , but there ARE more tourists and ex-pats. I like rue Dominique lots of shops and restaurants but it doesn%26#39;t buzz like Montorguiel area. IMO

The 2nd is more fun and has a greater % of Parisians. It would get my vote.
|||
I vote for the 2nd without hesitation.
|||
Another very definite vote for the 2nd. The rue Bachaumont is a good location, especially over the holidays.
|||
I loved staying in the 2nd. Rue Montorgueil is wonderful, and it feels like you%26#39;re living amongst Parisians in the 2nd. It%26#39;s also walking distance to so many sights.

Merci beaucoup! The 2nd it is.
