Paris or Vienna?

Hi all...just looking for some input. I am debating about over spending a long time in Paris (december 29th - Jan 3rd) and paying the higher hotel costs, or paying for a roundtrip plane ticket to Vienna, Austria (around 200.00) for 3 days, returning to Paris on the 3rd, which will make it so I only have to pay for a hotel in Paris for two nights, but get to visit the city for nearly 4 full days...both departure flights are around 9pm...I have to return to Paris to go onto Prague.

I%26#39;ve heard Vienna is beautiful, is it worth paying the extra plane ticket and lower hotels or skipping Vienna, paying higher hotels and just stay in Paris?

What would you do? The plans would give me 2 full days in Vienna, Thanks for any input!

Sorry...the plans would actually give me 3 full days in Vienna :) Forgot about New Years Eve! (It%26#39;s late here....haha)

Vienna is beautiful - quite different from Paris but with a distinct old-world elegance. If you%26#39;re flying all the way from Japan, I%26#39;d say do both. Whilst you could easily spend a month in each city, 3 days is enough to cover the essentials and give you a flavour of each, and if you feel you%26#39;ve missed anything, you can always come back!

I%26#39;d resist the temptation to do too much, however, some of the itineraries people post on here are exhausting, and one of the joys of both cities is to sit in a cafe and people-watch. Have a great trip.
