We are a family of 5(2 adults and 3 children aged between 6-11 years). I find hotel bookings confusing. If a hotel has a quad room and also has the option of extra beds at a small cost, should it then be possible to book a quad room with an extra bed accomodating 5 people? When going through to the booking it often does not allow the booking on the grounds of amount of guests to high for room capacity? Am I understanding the whole situation wrong or how do I go about organizing this?
This is for two days travel in January 2010 through Burgundy en route to the ski resorts. Any suggestions and tips from families with 3 children (travelling tends to accomodate 2 children)?

Hotel rooms in France are often small, and you might find it difficult to get one room that would suit your family. You might do better sending emails to the hotels that interest you, rather than filling out a booking form.

If the hotel is conveniently placed for your overnight stop but can%26#39;t accommodate 5 in a room, you could book a twin and a triple, ajoining if possible, then have one parent in each room and share out the children. Even if it%26#39;s less than ideal, it%26#39;s just one night and possibly less hassle than booking a less convenient place just because they can squeeze in five.
