6D5N Mid Oct Nice-St Cannat-Tarascon-Luberon-Le Thor

Hi,

We%26#39;re shifting around from Nice to Avignon in 6 days, visiting from Nice to Le Thor and finally take TGV @ Avignon to Paris. We%26#39;ll be in :

Nice - Mon

St cannat - Tues

Tarascon - Wed

Luberon - Thurs/Fri

Le Thor - Sat

Leaving Avignon for Paris on Sun

Could someone advice what are the interesting %26amp; romantic things to do?

What we%26#39;ve in mind:

- visit the beach

- staying in castle @ st cannat

- stroll in stone village

- st Remy%26#39;s market (Wednesday)

- escargot/wine yard

Oh, we%26#39;ll be driving. :)

Thanks!

Any advice?

Combine your trip to St Remy market with a visit to the monastery of st Paul de Mausole, just up the road (15 mins walk) and Glanum if you like roman ruins or Les Baux if you like ruined hilltop villages. Go to Roussillon in the Luberon for loads of art galleries and nice walks along the ochre trails. Tarascon is the castle, the mediaeval streets and the Rhone plus a walk across the river to Beaucair. From Le thor, you can visit l%26#39;isle sur la Sorgue.

Thanks Chicchantel!

Any recommendation to where to dine during my night stay at Chateau de Valmousse (St Cannat)?

|||

A lot to do in a short time.

I notice you mention an escargot %26quot;yard%26quot; in your wish list.

There is one just off the N7 road near St Cannat heading in the direction of Avignon - never had the courage to go in it though!

|||

by the way, Les Baux is 5 miles from St Remy, it%26#39;s not included in the 15 minute walk.

|||

Thanks for the highlights!

Will sure add in Les Baux %26amp; Roussillon

boucheboy-why wouldnt you have the courage to do so?

I%26#39;d be staying in Les Carmes, and I suppose it%26#39;s a working escargot farm :)

Are they any specialty snacks in Provence?

|||

Provence has many local specialities.

Goats cheese - Fromage du Cherve - is a favorite of mine with a variety of textures and intensity of flavour. Some of the specimens I buy Mrs Bouche will not let in the house!

Daube - a rich beef stew. Each restaurant seems to have its own recipe.

Lavender honey - very nice with goats cheese!

Melons though I expect you might be too late for these.

Oh and the reason I have not visited the snail farm is that you have to buy some and they are live - to someone brought up with the Magic Roundabout (a UK childrens TV program) where one of the central characters was a snail called Brian this would be too traumatic...

Thanks Boucheboy!

Goats cheese - Fromage du Cherve - I shall try them but blue cheese is the max I could go

Lavender honey - Is it commonly available in any of the villages

Hmmm... I%26#39;d better check out on google/youtube before I volunteer to visit their escargot farm
