Hi,
I would like recommendations for the following 2
bedrooms aptmts in Paris:
www.parisholidayapts.com (Pont Neuf Duplex, or Beaubourg apt.)
www.paris-hideawys.com (Ambassadeur)
www.rothray.com (8, rue des Lombards)
Have you rented any of these apartments or dealt
with these agencies? Have you had a positive experience?..or any problems?
Thanks

did you stay at 8 rue des lombards? I have it booked for later this fall and wondered what you thought.

Hi,
No, I did not book with rothray.com although it seems
like they have very nice Parisian aptmts. at reasonable rates...I was concerned about the location
and perhaps noise level..(and wasn%26#39;t too thrilled about the shower glass, etc.).
www.paris-hideaways.com (Ambassadeur) seemed like a very nice, large aptmt. but I was conerned about the
Bastille location at the time.
We stayed at the Pont Neuf aptmt...www.parisholidayapts.com. It was bigger than pictured on their website..lots of stair climbing..very QUIET location..very close to St.Michel blvd. and the Latin Quarter a few blocks away as was Notre Dame...the kitchen on the upper level was stifling...too narrow..but we managed to cook. No curtains in the living room, hallways.
Long %26amp; narrow bathroom on the lst level with a washer/dryer combo..and nice sized master bedroom..
However, the kicker was the stairs to go upstairs to
the upper level...there was NO banister..you had to
hold onto the %26quot;walls%26quot; for dear life..up %26amp; down the stairs. When I mention lots of stairs..I mean just that...approx. 12 steps to get to the elevator..4th flr.
after you exit..another 12 or more to get to your
lst level of the aptmt...then another 12 or more to
climb to the upper level..if you need more info..you
can contact me again. Regards...

Parisholidayapts.com. Stayed at John%26#39;s 1 bedroom Louvre once and Pont Neuf Duplex twice, as a couple, and last year with another couple.
All were positive experiences.
When we were there as 2 couples, my wife and I slept in the twin bedroom. The room and the beds are a little small, but we managed OK and would do it again.
The apartment is very secure and quiet. It is on a quiet street, through a secure door into a large courtyard, shared with a couple of other buildings. There a 2 apartments on each floor of the building and we never saw or heard another tenant during the 5 days we were there.
Yes, there is a half flight of steps to get to the lift, then up 4 floors by lift, then another half flight to get to the apartment. The lower floor of the apartment has main bedroom, bathroom/laundry, then a flight of steps to the upper floor lounge/dining/kitchen and second bedroom. All 4 of us are in our 60%26#39;s and thought nothing of the steps.
It is well equipped, light and airy and comfortable, in a good location with plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars nearby.

One point I neglected to mention. Parisholidayapts.com is not an agency. John Knutson actually owns the apartments listed on his web site.

Thanks for responding. One of my biggest concerns was the noise at 8 Rue des Lombards. I was even more concerned when I found yesterday that the tapas restaurant on le premier etage is open late until 2 AM. I originally thought the charming windows overlooking the street would be a good thing, now I%26#39;m not too sure. However, the decision is done and I%26#39;ll report back after our visit. I live in the city here, in a very heavily trafficked tourist area, so it may not be anything like I%26#39;m used to here. You can be sure I%26#39;ll let everyone know. My last visit was to the Latin Quarter and we stayed at the Hotel Grand Ecole on Rue Cardinale Lemoyne. Very nice, though the walls were a bit thin and the overnight guests on the weekend were very energetic. Otherwise it was charming and quiet at the hotel. Thanks again.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Paris and would love
to hear your feedback of your stay at 8, rues des
Lombards.
The location of the 6th AR - Pont Neuf duplex was ideal. It had the best, most comfortable master bedroom mattress...(comparing it to my other stays in aptmts. in Rome %26amp; Florence)...located not
far from 2 Underground Metro stations..and great
croissants in a couple of bakeries, and some of the
best Chinese food (rivals what you can find on the West Coast) not far from Kayser Bakery. There were
mini %26quot;grocery%26quot; stores in the neighborhood..but if you wanted lots of choices it was a LONG hike to
the Monoprix Supermarket.
Have fun!!!

We stayed at 8 rue des lombardes, returned yesterday. Ray Lampard runs a professional organization and the apartment was just as described. It was very well furnished and most likely spacious for a central Paris apartment. Noise could be an issue, but the windows do seal very well and it was perfectly quiet and dark for sleep. It may have been a problem with noise if the temperature did not cooperate. It doesn%26#39;t get blasting sun, and there were fans when needed. It is a very busy location, but you know what they say about real estate, %26quot;location, location, location%26quot;. Close to many tourist sights and close to the metro and RER for transport to the airport or to sight that require more travel. The apt. location should not be confused with the other side of Blvd. Sebastopol which is a walk on the wilder side. I%26#39;ll probably try another neighborhood next time, but not because I didn%26#39;t like this apt.
