I have already reserved my hotel over the internet with my credit card - mastercard. They have already charged a nominal amount for the booking. They have mentioned that they will charge the balance when i am checking out.
So, when I am checking out do I have to swipe my card at the hotel and pay ? OR since they have my card details, will they charge straightaway ?
Why I am raising this question is, my credit cards does not contains a chip. So, i am worried that my card might be rejected. in that case i have to carry cash with me.

None of my credit cards have chips in them and I have used them all over Paris without any problem. I wouldn%26#39;t think it would be an issue.

This concerns many of us but it%26#39;s very unlikely you%26#39;ll have any problem using a credit card at a hotel in Paris. The problems that do arise are usually in locations not frequented by a large number of tourists.

thanks guys ... its a big relief ! one other question. I have an ATM card issued by the HSBC in oman. can I use it to withdraw cash from HSBC ATM in paris ? do I have to inform the bank about possible transactions outside ?
I have already used it outside oman.

Provided your ATM card has either Visa or Mastercard logo, you can use any ATM. If it does not, check with your bank.
Tell your bank whenever you will be using a card in another country.

Having your credit card number, expiration date and security code (%26quot;cryptogramme%26quot;)are enough for them to make any debits they want. Otherwise, internet and telephone sales would be impossible in France.
