Hi.
we are visiting the ardeche region with our two children, one of whom is 6. Many canoe companies only offer canoe trips for 7+. Does anyone know where we can canoe with our 6 year old. He is really keen on canoeing and we%26#39;d love to do even a potter around on the river with him somewhere safe or a safe trip down a small stretch of a river.
Thanks for any advice

Hi you need to post this in the Ardeche forum, which will be in Rhone-Alpes, it%26#39;s not in Provence.

A few years ago, we had a holiday just outside Vallon Pont d%26#39;Arc, staying at the Camping Soleil Vivarais, on the river but upstream of the gorges. While we were there, we had a half day with a canoe, but I can%26#39;t remember how we got hold of it or whether there were any age restrictions.
There was a bit of a dam upstream from the site, with a chute down for canoes to get through without portage. For kids it was brilliant - paddle the canoe round the %26#39;lake%26#39; for a while, head down the chute then paddle over to the shore so that the adults could haul the thing up the slope ... and repeat. I%26#39;ve no idea whether the canoes were only for campsite residents, or whether there might be other companies nearby - the campsite website is clear that there is a limit of 7 years old for descent of the gorges by canoe.
However, while hunting around online to remind myself of details, I came across a site advertising accompanied descents with no age limit which might be a good %26#39;Plan B%26#39; if you can%26#39;t get hold of canoes. bateliers.net/uploads/…fiche_batelier.pdf
