"TopofParis.com" studio apartment in 20th

Has anyone in the Paris forums stayed in this studio apartment? I am interested in feedback about:

1) the studio itself

2) costs to travel into Paris city via Metro from Gambetta

3) views on 20th in general and as a family friendly district.

Thanks

www.TopofParis.com does not lead to a functioning website to check which apartment you are referring to or the exact location near Gambetta.

I stayed for a week last year near Pere Lachaise Metro and went to Place Gambetta one late afternoon to look around and have coffee and the area close to Gambetta Metro looked quite fine to me. I saw nothing I would consider unfriendly to families.

Metro from Gambetta is 1.60 Euros for a single ticket but can be reduced to 1.16 Euros if you buy a carnet of ten tickets for 11.60 Euros. If you will be using the metro and buses for 5 or more trips a day, a Mobilis daily card can be better value and more convenient than a carnet.

There is also the option of the Navigo decouverte weekly or monthly depending on the length of your stay and the day of the week you arrive if it is only for a week or so.

Thanks Faux (Sydney).

The address is part of an email address in France. The studio is privately owned and was advertised here in a local rag. I have talked to the owner, who is an expat. He calls the studio TopofParis because it has spectacular views. Really nice guy but I just thought there might be someone out there who had stayed there (they would recognise the name) and give me some feedback.

Thanks for yours though, on Metro costs. Very helpful. And that 20th looked family friendly to you.

Hi FX, you called me %26quot;Thanks Faux (Sydney)%26quot; and it occurred to me that you did not mention where you live in Australia.

Have you ever been to Paris before? I would look further than an Australian %26quot;local rag%26quot; to find a holiday apartment in Paris.

I suggest you do a search of the forum for apartment + rental since you have only posted on TripAdvisor twice and you will find a lot of advice about which apartment rental agencies/owners have good reputations and which have not.

I have had very good experiences with www.parisaddress.com and others have recommended other reputable agencies like www.vacationinparis.com

I suggest you spend a bit of time researching on this forum before you even consider renting from someone who advertises a flat in Paris in a local paper in Australia.

Thanks for the advice Faux.

The %26quot;Local Rag%26quot; was in fact a Teacher%26#39;s Journal.

I have done a fair amount of research (a couple of month%26#39;s infact) trawling various websites for rentals in Paris and Gites out of Paris. I had done some communicating with Parisstay.com but after reading (also over the last month) the forum entires on Trip Advisor about them, and receiving correspondence that was CAPITALISED all the time, I have decided to not to use them.

I have been to Paris before but this time I%26#39;m taking the family so am looking at somewhere cheaper to stay so we can spend our money on other things.

a la prochaine fois...
