Lyon-Salornay-sur-Guye

My wife and I arrive at Lyon airport at 3.25pm on Sunday, October 11. What chance getting anywhere close to Salornay-sur-Guye then by public transport?

I am resigned to hiring a car for our five-day trip, but if there was an alternative, I would love to hear it.

Hi there

Salornay-sur-Guye is about 50 Km NW from Macon, itself about 75 Km north of Lyon.

Maybe you can take a regional train from Lyon main station (Part-Dieu) to Macon, but then a car rental will be necessary.

Many thanks for that. Will check out the rail option and see if it might work for us.

... also make sure that the car rental is open in Macon on Sunday...

The bus shuttle from Lyon airport takes you straight to Lyon main station in about 45 minutes.

On Sundays, there is a regional train (%26quot;TER%26quot;) every hour at H+22 mins until 7.22 PM (the ride takes 50 mins), plus a few additional trains (TGVs, corail), a bit faster but more expensive.

If you are going to hire a car anyway, you might as well get it at the airport. You%26#39;ll be there in the time it takes to take the bus into Lyon and then the train and then pick up the rental in Macon (note the Macon tgv station is not in town). You%26#39;ll have more choice of cars at the airport and it%26#39;s a very easy drive.

Yes, I think hiring a car at Lyon makes most sense. That will necessitate an alcohol-free journey from Glasgow, which is pretty much unique for this flyer. Sobriety it will be, however!

Thanks for the responses.

Tony.
