Seems like a really insignficant question but... where can a person buy a small battery operated fan? We are staying in an apartment in Paris that does not have airconditioning. Granted, we will be there in September and don%26#39;t imagine it will ever get uncomfortable. However, in case we want a tiny fan, where would one buy one?

A battery operated fan is likely move only a small amount of air and consume batteries at an alarming rate. ;^(
If you find you need a fan I%26#39;d be surprised if BHV wouldn%26#39;t have a fan to suit you:

You can find a location right at the Hotel de Ville.

Thank you for your response to such a boring question.... but, the website is of course, in French. I%26#39;m not sure what the French word for fan is.
Aside from that, I%26#39;m very confused. What exactly is Hotel de Ville? I thought it was some sort of monument or historic establishment. Is it now a store ?? Sorry to be so uneducated in this matter.

I%26#39;ve been in Paris in mid-late September many times. Once in a while, it%26#39;s very warm (high 70%26#39;s), but only mid-late afternoon - and, if you have direct sunshine with no block-out shades/drapes or shutters.
Even if you felt the need for a fan, a small battery operated model would not do you much good. And, many non-air conditioned apartments do have a fan available. If they don%26#39;t, it%26#39;s probably because previous guests haven%26#39;t complained too much, even during the hot months.
And, if you%26#39;re not %26quot;home%26quot; in the afternoon should you have very warm days, you won%26#39;t need a fan.

Hi patty,
A fan = un ventilator
BHV = Bazaar de l%26#39;Hotel de Ville. This is a department store that is located near the Hôtel de Ville for the City of Paris

The Hôtel de Ville = Town/City Hall This is very confusing for most first time visitors to France who sometimes mistake the City Hall for a hotel.
I had to laugh when I read this story in the Parisian recently. Sorry patty, it is in French, but others might enjoy this tale of an English traveler who spent the night in the Hôtel de Ville by mistake.

Here%26#39;s the story in English (someone sent me the link a couple of weeks ago, and I happened to still have the email).

Oops - here%26#39;s the link to the English version

And I second the advice that a small battery operated fan won%26#39;t do any good at all.

Very fall like these past few days. Doubtful you will need a fan at all.

Here%26#39;s a direct link to a fan at BHV just in case...

I cannot sleep without a small fan. For the noise. I have one that runs on batteries or can be plugged in. It is small so it travels well and I take it everywhere I go. I purchased it at Brookstone. They have stores in the malls or on-line.
