Paris in a day

I am going to Paris tomorrow leaving St Pancras 06.220 and coming back on the 21.15 train.

I want to do Eiffel Tower. NotreDame. Champs Elysee and the Lourve( Mona Lisa for mother).

Now is this do able in a day?

Would I be better using either the Hop on Hop off Bus, the Batobus or the metro?

We also want do some shopping, We are more primark rather than Prada. Also a couple of cheap good restaurants to keep everybody fed and watered.

Ive just been to paris. its very nice im not sure you will do all those in one day,we went to the louvre and notre dame and we had had enough after that, legs too tired, the louvre is huge, so big you could spend all day there, the eiffel tower is a good way away from it so the bato bus might be a good idea, you couldnt do it on foot, notre dame is beautifull indeed, its just gorgeous, but we never got to the champs elysee, just to tired, just across the road form notre dame there are lots of souvenier shops, but things can be pricey, not all mind, t shirts with pic of paris on 20 euro, eiffel tower key ring 2 or 3 euros, there are stalls woth books across the road on notre dame side and they sell painting, copies but they are lovely. hope that helps you.

I forgot to say that as for other shopping, well its so big you just dont know where to go, im sure if you could manage to stroll the streets for hours you will find shops you like, but I didnt see anything like primark type shops over there price wise i mean, if you had more time you could hav went to val d europe its wuite nice in there and some shops are actually not bad, the one thing i will say is chocolates are expensive, at least 3 or 4 euroa per 100g and boxes, phew about 36 euros. the batos bus is about 20 euros for the day, we looked at it aswell, but wasnt keen on paying almost 80 euros to ride for the 4 of us.

For a longer stay or if you can plan out a set of visits, thenusing the Metro and ordinary buses are to be recommended, not least on cost grounds. However for an overview of a big city, using a tourist bus has many advantages.

For restaurants, step a street or so back from the main tourist streets. All restaurants post menus outside and browsing them until you find something that sounds interesting and at a price you think reasonable is quite acceptable. Then look inside and see if the other customers appear to be French. There are a number of restaurants in the area around Gare du Nord which while a long way from fine dining are OK for a pre-Eurostar meal.

On shops a low-cost clothes chain (more Matalan thanPrimark) is the wonderfully named Tatti. If you see one its almost worth buying some socks so that you will have a Tatti bag on your return. Monoprix is sort of a cross between M%26amp;S and Woolworths (as was) and they virtually always have a food and drink department.

Yes, you can do it in a day if you don%26#39;t spend more than 2 hours at the Louvre.

I%26#39;d use the metro as much as possible.

Hi, Pancras

My husband and I will be taking a similar day trip to Paris in November and would like to see the same sites indicated. Please let us know how your trip turns out! It was recommended to me that we may want to consider taxi from Gard due Nord to Notre Dame, walk to Lourve, then taxi to Eiffel Tower to view in the evening and take taxi back to Gard du Nord at least an hour before departure...Taxi may cost a bit more, but you don%26#39;t have to worry about correct metro, bus, etc.

Have a great trip!

The Louvre can be overwhelming if you haven%26#39;t decided what you want to see. %26quot;Masterpieces of the Louvre – Accessible Self-Guided Tour%26quot; (louvre.fr/templates/llv/static/1013419867409…) is a nice introduction covering some of the major works. Takes about 90 - 120 minutes.

I%26#39;d like to say thank you to everybody so far, I appreciate your replies.
