Just returned from Nice.
Had a great trip and time.
On most (if not all) of the bills for Nice Restaurants are two TVA items listed. One at about 5% and the other 19%. What are they for and why 2 separate listings.

The sales tax or TVA was recently lowered for restaurants from 19% to 5%. If you were given prices which showed the change you were lucky. Restaurants were supposed to lower their prices to reflect the tax reduction but many did not and others only lowered some prices.
Overall the TVA rollback is good news for diners.

Most restaurants in Nice have reduced prices-there was a reported 80% uptake on the first week and since then many of the ones whch hadn%26#39;t reduced have now done so.
In Antibes and Cannes its a different story- only about 40% of restaurants have reduced prices

Alcohol is still charged at 19.6%

That explains it. My receipts show both the 5.5 and the 19.6. i.e. One for food, one for alchohol
