I%26#39;m travelling from London to Aix En Provence, flying into Marseille airport (MRS). I know there is a shuttle bus option from there to the town, but I%26#39;d prefer to travel by train than by bus.
Is there a direct train that connects the airport and the town?
Thanks,

No, there isn%26#39;t a direct line, you%26#39;d have to change in Marseille. The local lines are on this map ter-sncf.com/Paca/carte_horaires/index.asp
I believe there is an airport shuttle to Vitrolles to connect with the trains http://www.ter-sncf.com/Images/FH07-Marseille-Miramas_(via_Rognac_et_Port_de_Bouc)_ete_tcm21-63476.pdf The timetables from trains from Marseille to Aix are shown if you click on %26#39;Aix-en-Provence%26#39; on the interactive map.
The bus may be easier!

MRS is effectively no farther from Aix-en-Provence than it is from central Marseille. While you could go into Marseille and take the train from St. Charles to Aix-en-Provence, why would you want to? You could be in Aix by the time you reached St. Charles.
There is a bus from MRS to Aix-en-Provence every 30 minutes starting on the hour. The fare is 6.90€

The rail link to/from Marseille airport consists of a shuttle bus, taking about 10 minutes, to the nearby Vitrolles station. This connects with the local train service to Marseille St Charles station where you could change for a train to Aix-en-Provence. You can get a through ticket, from the SNCF ticket machine at the Airport. However, the services on the line through Vitrolles are far from regular and at times during both the morning and afternoon have gaps of a couple of hours. There is a train approximately every hour between Marseille and Aix. The timetable for the train link can be found on the Marseille Provence Aeroport website.
I used the rail link to get from the airport to Marseille earlier this year and it worked smoothly and was cheaper than the coach into town, but to get to Aix the coach would almost certainly be quicker and less hassle.
