We want to travel from Tours to Avignon so that we can fly out of Nice rather than Paris. I cannot find a direct train. Is there such a thing? Also, how do you go about picking up a car in Paris and dropping it off in Nice? Can that be done?

There is usually one a day from St. Pierre des Corps to Avignon. It normally departs about 14h30 and takes just over 4 hours.

Yes
But I%26#39;m not sure what you are asking. You simply pick up the car in Paris and drop it off in Nice. These arrangements are made in advance.

There is one train a day direct from St Pierre des Corps (the TGV station just outside Tours) to Avignon TGV. Leaves at 14.30, arrives 18.46. According to the German railways website, it runs every day.
If you are wanting to pick up a car in Avignon, there are all the usual suspects at the TGV station and you could book a one way hire (kemwel or autoeurope seem to be recommended to find the best rates). You could also change trains in Lyon or Marseille to travel on directly by rail to Nice.
