When we arrive at CDG we need to make a call from a pay phone to a cell phone number, 06.xx.xx.xx.xx. Are there any additional numbers that need to be added to this sequence. I will use a telecarte to make the call. The number is in Paris. Any idea what the cost would be for a 2-3 minute call? thanks

If I may add a related question:
Can one purchase a phone card at CDG?

You do not need to dial any additional numbers within France, but I can%26#39;t tell you the exact price. I would not think that it would be too expensive though.

Probably no more than just a few units but you%26#39;re calling a cell phone and calls to mobile phones are much more expensive t(consume more units) that do calls to fixed line phones.

Yes but there are now a good number of phone cards that at sold at magazine stores and tabacs. Unfortunately a large amount of confusion can exist over exactly what kind of card you are asking about.
There are télécartes used to call from a pay phone, phone cards to recharge the minutes on mobile phones using a pre paid format, and there are special phone cards containing instructions for making long distance calls outside of France.

Ask for a %26quot;carte téléphonique à 50 unités%26quot;, it costs €7 or €7.50 and you%26#39;ll be able to use it in all public phone booths. It is valid at least one year.

Pvoyageuse, can the carte telephonique also be used from a residential landline phone, or just from public telephones?
|||
Nuts: it can only be used from public telephones.
|||
Merci, Pvoyageuse. And, I love Perpignan.

To make certain I got the right card for public pay phones, in addition to asking for %26quot;une carte téléphonique%26quot; I added %26quot;pour cabine%26quot; to distinguish it from other phone cards. As mentioned, it is best to get the 50 unit carte to make sure you have enough time available.
And, unlike in the states, there are still plenty of pay phones available, most dependably at train stations.

I got one that could be used both from a landline (hotel or private residence) and a public telephone. I bought it from a Tabac, and the salesman asked me where I would mainly be making calls to (Australia, but some within France) and sold me one that cost €7.50.
For some reason, which I was never able to fathom, it had €25 credit on it. :) After 5 weeks I%26#39;d only used about €10 worth, and gave it to a friend when I left.
