Hi Guys, although we are planning to spend at least 10 days in Paris I thought the first couple of nights would be good in a hotel, till we get our bearings, and wondered if anyone has had any good/bad experiences with these hotels?

Sorry. I have not stayed at either of these hotels so I can%26#39;t offer any personal comments, but I would suggest the Saint Gregoire if you want to stay on the left bank (the hotel is nearer to Montparnasse than St. Germain). The de l%26#39;Elysee is on the right bank in the 8th district. I personally favor the left bank for the atmosphere. Also the St. Gregoire is rated much higher than the de l%26#39;Elysee here.

I second the preference for the area near the Gregoire, although I haven%26#39;t stayed at either of these 2 hotels.

Hello!
I didn%26#39;t hear good things about the hotel de l%26#39;Elysee; comments that it was a bit shabby and tired; Hotel Saint Gregoire is definitely better and has a much better reputation.
In this area I know two other hotels that you should check their website and see if you like them.
Hotel Odeon Saint Germain, rue Saint Sulpice, north of jardin du luxembourg, very cosy and romantic, high standards: http://www.hotelparisodeonsaintgermain.com/
The other one is hotel de l%26#39;Abbaye Saint Germain, 4 star hotel, with a lovely patio, classic style, bright colour, nice atmosphere: http://www.hotelabbayeparis.com/
