We are visiting Paris next month and want to know the best way of getting from Gard de Nord(arriving on Eurostar) to our hotel near La Sorbonne. Taxi or metro what do you think?

It depends on how many and how big your bags are.
Taxi is the easy way. But you can hop on the RER B that will bring you straight to St-Michel/St-Germain, connected to Métro Cluny Sorbonne.

RER B to either Saint Michel or Luxembourg -- I have not checked the map to see which would be closer.
