Hello Paris :-)
Just posting to enquire whether any one knows of any CURRENT last-minute/late deals on a for centrally locted Hotels in Paris? On the Irish forums we have a post were we all add in any good deals we%26#39;ve heard of lately, whether they be for Hotels or food specials or whatever, and we wondered if there was something similar here that we could plough through...
We need one double room for the 2 nights of Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October so we%26#39;re now within the %26#39;late booking%26#39; period. We%26#39;re not looking for anything particularly swank as it%26#39;s a %26#39;crash and go%26#39; weekend and so we%26#39;d like to keep it to around €100-150 per room per night but if there were any crazy offers on (like we have in Ireland at the moment) with 4 and 5 star hotels offering rooms out for, say, €150-200 prpn, we%26#39;d be tempted to look into it. We%26#39;re off to a wedding in the 18th Arrondissement so are ideally looking for accommodation within walking distance of the 18th and are happy with the areas of the 18th, 9th, 10th, 1st, 2nd,3rd or 4th as we know them quite well - we%26#39;re quite good walkers too!
Quite happy to lucky dip too: has anyone tried the %26#39;Name Your Own Price%26#39; facility on Priceline for Paris hotels with any success? We recently came up trumps with a 5 star in London (Park lane area) for £100 a night and some US posters got VERY lucky with THE premier hotel in Dublin for $170 a night...

As September and October are very heavy booking months for hotels in Paris, it is most unlikely that there are a great many deals to be had. With all of the conventions and trade shows in town during this period, there is little incentive for hotels to offer price discounts.
Additionally, non-chain hotels (which are probably the bulk of the hotels) have prices that fluctuate seasonally and I have found them very unwilling to vary from their traditional pricing structures. Sometime their websites offer promotional enticements but overall booking through 3rd party entities will most assuredly find you a room in a corporate hotel and often not in one of the single digit arrondissements.
My preferred method of making a reservation is to call a hotel I know and like directly.

Thanks for that Sarastro - we forgot about Paris and the trade show season!
We%26#39;ll give this thread a few more hours then sit down and go through the hotel sites later tonight if nothing else comes through - it seems that we should get it booked sooner rather than later...

Yesterday wouldn%26#39;t be too soon for a mid-Octiober booking. You%26#39;ll likely have better luck (and probably pay less for the same quality) if you look in the 9th or 10th and possibly the northern part of the 3rd rather than the other areas you mention. Don%26#39;t overlook the 11th either.

Try www.ratestogo.com there are always some great last minute deals, i%26#39;ve used them several times with no problem. You may be a little early yet as the website specialises in 3 weeks before departure.

We went with the Top Secret hotel as we second-guessed it as the Villa Royale in Pigalle which indeed it was - got it for a bargain £200 for two nights all-in so very happy indeed :-)
