toll road tickets

Hi

I will be travelling to France next week from Spain by car. Who can help me re toll roads? Do prepaid 4 day stickers exist like in some other European countries? I will be staying there for around 4 days. Also Which places are the best to visit in south of France in such a short time? My plans are to travel right to Nizza but I woul like to visit a few French towns on the way...eg eze, Rodez, Toulouse and Monaco.

Thanks

Daniela

Nope

you pay by the KM, and it is only on some of the autoroutes, so there%26#39;s no way of knowing how far you%26#39;re going - or what route youre taking - until you have done it.

Doing you%26#39;re trip in 4 days you really only need to use the Routes Nationale (theyre free) with occasional brief foray onto the autoroutes

Usually, as you enter an autoroute you collect a ticket from a machine. When you leave, you either (a) go to a staffed toll booth, give the ticket to a person, and pay cash; or (b) go to a toll booth that takes credit cards. However, some autoroutes (such as the one behind Nice) do not use tickets and just have toll plazas at intervals.

If you go to www.viamichelin.com you can get driving directions, rather optimistic travel times, and estimated toll and fuel costs for travel in Europe.
