Do I want RER B to Luxembourg and then walk or RER B to Chatelet-les-Halles to Place Monge? Wife and I will each have a rolling bag and a 1km walk is nothing to us. Nothing too heavy but not so light either. This will be about 10am on a Friday.

We%26#39;ve done 800m walks from various train stations before, takes about 15 minutes or so. But do print a very detailed street map (Google or Michelin) so you don%26#39;t get turned around.
An alternative is to take the Roissybus to Opera,then Metro: Line 7 direction Villejuif/L.Aragon to Place Monge stop. Roissybus costs nearly the same as the RER and you can just get on board at the pickup point at your terminal. At Opera, you%26#39;ll then need to stop to buy your metro tickets, not sure if they are only sold by machine these days...
